NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Eat Local Challenge continues to grow in its eight year through expanding partnerships, dropping participating fees, and a fantastic farm to table events line up.
This year’s Eat Local Challenge is proud to announce a full partnership with the New Orleans Food Policy Advisory Committee, which has been active since 2007 working to create a sustainable, culturally appropriate food system for all New Orleanians. We are thrilled to be joining our missions and broadening our outreach, capacity and community impact.
We are dropping the twenty five dollar registration fee and are happy to announce that this year it is free for anyone to take part in this 30 day local food challenge. We see this move as enabling more New Orleanians to be a part of the local food movement and to be encouraged to start enjoying the tastes of our bounty of local agricultural and seafood resources.
This years event calendar is robust and includes a June 1 kick off party at Roux Carre, The Garden to Glass Cocktail Contest hosted by the WWII Museum, urban farm bike ride, farmers market bingo, green drinks on the farm, yoga in the garden, farm and food workshops, beekeeping, chicken raising, Bycatch Finale Party and more. F.P.A.C. will be hosting a series of "Courageous Conversations," discussing some of the most pressing issues facing our farmers, food businesses, and families.
