COVINGTON, LA – The 7th annual Kickin’ Parkinson’s fundraiser featuring live music from The Molly Ringwalds, an open bar and food by local restaurants, a silent auction and many special guests, including Debi Brooks, Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chairman of The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), takes place tonight, Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Stone Creek Club and Spa, 1201 Ochsner Blvd., at 7:00 p.m.
Kickin’ Parkinson’s is committed to raising awareness and finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease, organizers said. Over 50,000 people in the U.S. alone are diagnosed with Parkinson’s annually.
On Friday, September 23, at Oxlot 9 in the Southern Hotel, 428 E. Boston St., from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., MJFF’s Brooks will lead an in-depth round table discussion on the latest information on medical breakthroughs and other topics that are important to patients and families of those suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Other participants include Terina Martinez, PhD, Senior Associate Director of Research Programs; Patricia Radford, Senior Associate Director of Development; and Liz Diemer, Senior Associate Director of Team Fox.
There will also be a Q&A session for the audience to submit questions to the expert panel.
MJFF is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research, and has funded more than $600 million to speed a cure for Parkinson’s since 2000.
