7th Annual Kickin’ Parkinson’s Fundraiser To Bring Community Together To Kick Disease ‘Into The Past’

COVINGTON, LA — The 7th annual Kickin’ Parkinson’s fundraiser takes place Thursday, September 22, at the Stone Creek Club and Spa, 1201 Ochsner Blvd., in Covington, LA, the day before scientists and leaders of the Michael J. Fox Foundation gather for a Round Table Discussion at The Columbia House, 328 N. Columbia St., in Covington on Friday, September 23, 2016.

         The Kickin’ Party will feature live music from The Molly Ringwalds, premium bars and specialty drinks, food from more than 25 local restaurants, both silent and live auctions and many special guests, including Debbie Brooks, Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chairman of the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

         Tickets are $125 per person or $100 per person if purchased by August 31st here

         New event “Boots and Bubbles,” a VIP Reception for Sponsors, will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on September 22.

         On Friday, September 23, from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., the public is invited to attend a Round Table Discussion at The Columbia House. Led by Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Brooks, this in-depth discussion will cover the latest information on medical breakthroughs and other topics of importance to patients and families of those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.

         Other participants will include Associate Director of Research Programs Terina Martinez, PhD Neuroscience, Senior Associate of Development Patricia Radford and Senior Associate Director of Research Programs Liz Diemer. There will also be a Q&A session for the audience to submit questions to an expert panel.

         Last year’s Kickin’ Parkinson’s event raised more than $300,000 for research for a cure and medical therapies for patients with Parkinson’s Disease. Kickin’ Parkinson’s is one of 3,800 Team Fox organizations and is one of the top 5 fundraising chapters in the country for Team Fox.

         Kickin’ Parkinson’s co-founder Dastugue was diagnosed with Parkinson’s eight years ago. More than 50,000 people are diagnosed annually.
