NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Federal prosecutors in New Orleans say an energy company was fined $4 million for violating federal laws governing safety and the environment on offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico.
A Wednesday news release from U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite says Energy Resource Technology G.O.M., was fined and placed on three years of probation for violations of the Clean Water Act and the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act.
Court records show the company, an affiliate of Talos Energy Offshore LLC, pleaded guilty in January.
Violations included failing to comply with regulations for welding and related activities, violating regulations for proper testing of a blowout preventer and tampering with water discharge samples.
