ARABI, LA – The 40 Arpent Brewing Company is set to hold a Grand Opening celebration for its recently added Taproom this Saturday, Nov. 5, at 6809 N Peters St, in Arabi, LA, from 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
40 Arpent is the winner of the inaugural Startup St. Bernard pitch competition in conjunction with New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) in March of 2015. Owner Michael Naquin and his staff have worked to grow the 6,000 square foot brewing operation and complete the on-site Taproom to sample their product.
The brewery’s name is an ode to Louisiana history and Naquin’s favorite memories. Like the cypress trees that envelope South Louisiana, 40 Arpent Brewing Company has grown from humble, bayou roots. It all began with Naquin, 40 Arpent’s Houma-born founder. His childhood experiences of trolling with his Dad, knee-boarding in the 40 Arpent Canal, and watching his older brother experiment with a homebrewing kit, have influenced every aspect of 40 Arpent, brewery reps said.
St. Bernard’s 40 Arpent Canal, which was built in the 18th century, stretched from what is now the Faubourg Marigny, roughly paralleling the Mississippi River on the East Bank down through modern St. Bernard Parish and part of the East Bank of Plaquemines. Given the brewery’s location on the banks of the Mississippi in Arabi, the name was a natural fit.
The Taproom grand opening will include specialty kegs throughout the day, live entertainment by "The Grapes of Mash," and food trucks on-site including "Taylor Made Wings" and "Beehive Nola."
Entry is free and the 40 Arpent Taproom is now open from Thursday-Sunday.
