NEW ORLEANS – Yesterday, New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau Vice President of Communications and Public Relations Kristen Sonnier, District "C" Councilwoman Nadine M. Ramsey, District "D" Councilman Jared Brossett, Historic Faubourg Tremé Association (HTFA) founding president Naydja Bynum, Tremé Fall Festival artist consultant Terrance Osbourne and community leaders gathered outside the historic St. Augustine Church, 1210 Gov. Nicholls St., to kick off the third annual Tremé Fall Fest with the unveiling of this year’s official poster, created by New Orleans artist Bryan Brown.
The free festival takes place Saturday, Sept. 30, from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., on the grounds of St. Augustine Church.
Additional festival events will run from Friday, Sept. 29 – Sunday, Oct. 1.
Hosted by HFTA, Tremé Fall Fest aims to celebrate, showcase and enjoy the music, food and arts that are historic to Tremé 's rich and vibrant culture, and to raise funds to keep the vital cultural and historic institutions alive and well in the 21st century.
HFTA has provided more than $50,000 to help restore the nation's oldest African-American church, St. Augustine Catholic Church, now celebrating its 176th anniversary this October. HFTA has also been able to promote projects that benefit the Tremé and its vibrant culture through festival proceeds and sponsorships.
