LAKE CHARLES, LA (AP) — A chemical company in southwest Louisiana is planning an expansion.
Westlake Chemical President Albert Chao and Gov. Bobby Jindal on Thursday announced the company will expand the ethylene capacity at its Calcasieu Parish plant and make other capital improvements.
State officials say the changes amount to a $330 million capital investment that will add 25 permanent jobs.
Those jobs are predicted to result in additional annual payroll of $2 million.
Also, the expansion of the ethylene capacity is expected to create about 1,000 construction jobs.
State incentives for the project include a $2.5 million tax credit to be claimed over five years.
The expansion is expected to be completed in late 2015 or early 2016, with hiring to begin late this year.
