KENNER, LA – The 30th Annual Great 100 Nurses Celebration will commence on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at The Ponchartrain Center, in Kenner, LA, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The annual event will honor 100 of Louisiana’s Great Nurses who are selected based on their concern for humanity, their contributions to the profession of nursing and their mentoring of others.
This year’s event will feature the inspiring words of wisdom from Linda Burnes Bolton, DrPH, RN, FAAN, the ceremony’s keynote speaker, organizers said. Dr. Burnes Bolton, VP and Chief Nursing Officer at Cedars-Sinai Los Angeles, was recently honored as a Living Legend by the Academy of Nursing.
According to PK Scheerle, RN and Founder of the Great 100 Nurses Celebration, “This wonderful program honors the work of the registered nurse and it is a great moment in a nurse’s career to be recognized as a Nurse Hero by our community. The future of America’s healthcare relies increasingly on the work of the nurse and Louisiana can take great pride and comfort in these honorees.”
The Great 100 Nurses Celebration was founded in New Orleans 30 years ago by PK Scheerle, RN and has honored thousands of nurses across Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, and beginning next year in Arkansas. To be recognized is a great honor in the life of the nurse, and this honor helps each registered nurse walk taller and recognize the incredible value and contribution they make to society and the proud profession of nursing, organizer said. These nurses are recognized as trustees of the profession, honored for their courageous and caring acts. The Great 100 Nurses Celebration recognizes and honors these Nurse Heroes and serves as a beacon of light, illuminating the often untold and humble work of Louisiana’s great nurses, organizers said.
