BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Six Louisiana health centers have been awarded $3.5 million in federal funds.
The centers will use the funding from the Affordable Care Act to provide primary health care services in needy communities.
Two community health centers in New Orleans and one in Clinton are among the six Louisiana centers to receive the award.

With the funding, the centers estimate they will increase access to health care services for close to 20,000 patients.
Health Secretary Sylvia Burwell says the Affordable Care Act has led to unprecedented increases in access to health insurance.
Nationally, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded about $101 million to 164 new health center sites in 33 states and two U.S. territories.
