Casa Jefferson

CASA Jefferson is here to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect through volunteers advocating for safe, nurturing, and permanent homes for foster children in our community.

If you see a blue pinwheel on a lapel this month, know that it is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time of immense importance to CASA Jefferson. Founded because children whose homes are no longer safe for them to return to are placed in the confusing and oftentimes overwhelming world of foster care, CASA Jefferson provides volunteers who are recruited, trained, and assigned to every child in the foster care system in Jefferson Parish to meet that challenge head-on, offering an advocate for children who need a voice and support.

Children who are removed from their homes because of reported abuse and/or neglect are placed in foster care situations. During a lengthy and complex process, a judge will determine where they may safely and permanently be placed. It is here that CASA Jefferson advocates step in, and volunteers are the most crucial. As the eyes and ears for the child in court and at home, volunteers are a friend along every step of the foster care process, providing a consistent, caring person in their life to support and guide them.

HOW TO HELP

CASA Jefferson is looking for volunteers to help serve as advocates for the twenty children still waiting for someone to stand up for them.
