Founded in 2008 following Hurricane Katrina, JCF continues to lead the way in providing resources in the community aftermath of disasters. Working in collaboration with local nonprofit, faith-based, and volunteer agencies, JCF has partnered with the Jefferson Ready Start Network to support early childhood education throughout the parish, where every local dollar donated will be matched dollar for dollar by the Louisiana Early Childhood Education Fund. Additionally, businesses can receive a dollar-for-dollar refundable credit on Louisiana State taxes as part of School Readiness Tax Credits for their donations.
The Jefferson Community Foundation (JCF) is the nonprofit community foundation for Jefferson Parish dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents, visitors, and businesses in Jefferson Parish by focusing on the needs of the community and the power of philanthropy.
In addition to grant-making and hosting donor-advised funds, JCF convenes people, resources, and ideas to develop strategies and solutions to meet the parish’s greatest challenges. Other JCF programs include iPhone Basics for Boomers, Jefferson Community Youth Leadership, Jefferson Parish Quality of Life survey, Jefferson Parish Senior Expo, and Race Equity bi-monthly dialogue and recommendations. Soon, the JCF will expand its reach across the Mississippi River as it begins fundraising efforts for a Westbank Aquatics Center where community members can learn to swim, first responders can train, and regional athletic competitions can be held.
