Since 1988, the Sports Foundation has played a crucial role in cementing New Orleans’ status as a world-class host city for major sporting events. Throughout its 36-year history, the organization has bid upon and managed hundreds of events and turned a $50 million public investment into more than $3.4 billion in economic impact for the State of Louisiana and the Greater New Orleans area. It’s the Sports Foundation’s strategic planning, strong partnerships, and a deep understanding of the evolving sports industry that has successfully positioned New Orleans as a premier destination for marquee sporting events.
The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation’s mission is to attract, secure, and manage events that bring tremendous economic benefits to the city, enhance our global reputation, and create long-term community impact.
The Sports Foundation has served as the Host Committee staff of four Super Bowls, most recently Super Bowl LIX, which is just one out of a long list of stellar events it’s played host to. The track record also includes seven NCAA Men’s and Women’s Final Fours, three NBA All-Star Games, three WrestleMania, the annual New Orleans Bowl, numerous Olympic Trials, youth and amateur competitions. These events fulfill the mission of the organization by generating millions of dollars in tax revenue, creating thousands of jobs, and putting New Orleans on the world stage as a premier sports destination.
