Lighthouse Louisiana: Giving Back 2025

Non-Profit

Lighthouse Louisiana was founded over a century ago to create positive change for people with disabilities by providing vision rehabilitation services to both children and adults. Through the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf, they are able to provide hearing aids, telecommunications equipment, and ASL interpreting. Lighthouse Louisiana is the largest employer of people who are blind in the state, but it also offers a variety of training programs for adults with various disabilities who are seeking supported employment assistance through Louisiana Rehabilitation Services.

At Lighthouse Louisiana, the mission is to empower people with disabilities through services, employment, and advocacy.

Likewise, they support career development through the Ticket To Work (TTW) Employment Network Program and the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Program for people who receive Social Security disability benefits and want to work by helping them move toward financial independence. Lighthouse Louisiana also conducts skills training, public seminars, and workshops to educate students, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community partners in an effort to better protect, serve, teach, and advocate for people with disabilities.

How To Help

At Lighthouse Louisiana, the work represents the diversity of the people they serve and their commitment to creating an inclusive society for people with all disabilities. In order to continue this vital work, they need your help. Please consider a gift to Lighthouse Louisiana and make a difference in the lives of the over 2,100 individuals they serve annually.
