LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Two Louisiana community colleges plan expansion projects.
Delgado Community College in New Orleans says it will build an advanced technology building on its Algiers campus and an allied health, nursing and culinary arts building in downtown New Orleans.
Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles plans a $10.2 million building to train workers in culinary, gaming and hospitality fields.
Sowela Chancellor Neil Aspinwall tells the American Press that the center will offer new two-year degree programs and shorter programs including surveillance, computer networking, hotel management and casino dealing.
Aspinwall says construction on the new building should begin in early 2019 and the project should be done by mid-2020.
The three projects stem from a 2013 state law to modernize technical and community college facilities. Eleven projects are already complete statewide.
