NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Southern University at New Orleans is receiving a five-year, $2.4 million federal grant to fund a student support services program.
The university said in a Monday news release that the program is aimed at improving academic performance while increasing retention and graduation rates. Students are selected for the program based on federal guidelines regarding family income, parents' educational background, disability, and the need for academic support.
The program includes academic advising, tutoring, workshops and other assistance.
