NEW ORLEANS – 1st Lake Properties, Inc. helped to support Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO), for National Pet Day, Monday, April 10.
1st Lake Properties, Inc. team members and their residents collected pet supplies and monetary donations for the local no-kill shelter located in Elmwood.
“We have been very grateful for the support of 1st Lake Properties, the general public, and our committed shelter staff,” said Ginnie Baumann, vice president of ARNO. “But there is more work to do to rescue all our precious animals in need of care. We also have a great demand for volunteers and foster parents for many of the stray pets we took in from the flooded areas of Denham Springs.”
“We are committed to helping our local animal shelters like ARNO and are mindful of their efforts to have these animals adopted into loving homes,” said Michele Shane L’Hoste, president of 1st Lake Properties.
ARNO reps said during the past year they have made major strides in increasing awareness of the animals available for adoption and their needs, including:
• Hosting adoption events at several locations throughout the New Orleans area
• Placing “Found Pets” notices with photos of pets and descriptions of the areas sent to all local animal shelters and posted on Craigslist and NOLA.com
• Offering spay/neuter education and assistance
• Recruiting local companies to host “In-House” fundraisers
• Recruiting volunteer foster animals to help socialize and ready pets for a permanent home
